FSI Statement of Transition for Jim and Jenny King, and Katie and Mario Velasquez
Friendship Sports International is grateful for the long and faithful ministry of Jim and Jenny King, along with Katie and Mario Velasquez, in Honduras. For many years, the village of La Venta has held a special place in the heart and legacy of FSI, and we are thankful for the ways God has worked through relationships, discipleship, service, and ministry in that community.
As part of a season of transition, Jim and Jenny King, along with Katie and Mario Velasquez, will be moving their missionary support and fundraising from Friendship Sports International to Wine and Bread International. This transition will allow them greater freedom, clarity, and direction as they continue the ministry God has called them to in Honduras. At the same time, it will allow FSI to continue streamlining its focus on ministry through sports, discipleship, and vision trips both international and domestic.
This transition does not change our love, respect, or support for Jim, Jenny, Katie, Mario, or the work taking place in La Venta. FSI will continue to pray
for them, support them relationally, and partner in ministry when opportunities arise. We are excited about what God is continuing to do through their ministry and look forward to seeing how He leads in this next chapter. Jim King has faithfully led or been a part of Friendship Sports International for over 30 years. Two years ago, Jim empowered Matt Wallace to step into the role of Director, and Jim and Matt continue to work together in discipleship, encouragement, and mutual support. We honor Jim’s leadership, legacy, and ongoing investment in the mission of FSI.
There is no doubt that La Venta, Honduras will always have a meaningful place in the story of Friendship Sports International. We are deeply thankful for all God has done there and remain hopeful for all He will continue to do. The transition is in progress and will take place officially near the end of 2026.
