Monday 2/19 Hebrews 3 Surviving the Desert

When thinking of deserts, think of times of struggle, times of challenge, and even times when you have felt lonely. Discuss moments where you’ve been in the desert. What sent you into the desert? What has helped you to persevere?

How did God use those “desert experiences” to prepare you? To stretch you? To grow you?

The desert seasons of our lives are real, but no matter what, we were never created to stay there. Here are some desert stories that spurred people towards their destiny!

  1. Moses: His encounter in the desert prepared him to take on Pharaoh and lead God's people to freedom.

  2. David: He was being prepared in the desert to become king.

  3. Jonah: His desert experience was a time of chastisement, but it led him to be God's messenger.

  4. Hannah: She had a challenging desert experience that led to God’s blessing.

  5. Jesus: Well - we will take a deeper look at this one Tomorrow!

We enter desert seasons for different reasons. We may cause them, we may be led into them, or they may just show up in our way. We are not made for the desert, but the desert helps form us! Reread Hebrews 3:3:1, then 3:14. If you have recently or are experiencing a desert season, pray for gritty faith, a faith that holds on, a faith that sees with its ears. A faith that diverts our attention to Jesus!
