Mario has lived in La Venta, Honduras his whole life and since coming to know Christ as his Savior, has had a love for serving the Lord and the people around him. He plays the guitar, enjoys anything that has to do with music and sound systems, and, like any true Honduran, is up for a game of soccer any time. Katie, the daughter of Jim and Jenny King, has always loved Honduras and FSI and has a passion for ministry. She is a pianist, barista, and artist, and loves all things horse or travel-related.
Mario and Katie have entered into full-time missions together through FSI in La Venta, Honduras. “We have so many desires for our ministry in Honduras: helping to coordinate and lead teams; overseeing the construction on the church here in La Venta; and focusing on Jesus-like-living in community with the children, youth, and adults of La Venta with the intention of sharing the Gospel and making disciples. With the teams, one of the focuses we want to have is using peoples’ gifts as a way to do ministry-- with the sports teams, for example, their gifting is a sport and that gives them a platform to share Christ. If there are people on teams who have a love for photography, using that gift as a way to grow our gallery for the ministry; or people who love working with kids, putting together some sort of children’s program in the village; or musicians getting to help teach or lead worship alongside the Hondurans.”
“We also hope to someday use business as a way of positively impacting the lives of the people here in Honduras. The economy is poor and unstable, leaving many people jobless and no means of providing for their families. By helping to develop small, sustainable businesses, we could help to bring long-term positive life changes to many families and individuals. God is doing big things here, and we are so excited to be a part of it!”
