Tuesday 2/12 - Hebrews 2 - “Seeing with your Ears”

We are going to be in Chapter 2 all week. We will start at the shallow end and work towards the deep end. Chapter 1 presents us with a big Jesus, while Chapter 2 presents us with a much more intimate and close picture of Jesus. Hebrews begins the discussion of chapter 2 by quoting Psalm 8. These two passages tie Together. We will go deeper in this and more in the next two studies, but for now, really dig in to Hebrews 2:1.

Do you ever struggle with the fact that God seems too big, too holy, too far off, too perfect to identify with or connect with you? Reflect.

Where do you see evidence of Jesus drawing close to us or seeking an intimate relationship in Hebrews 2?

Hebrews 2:1 challenges the reader to "remember" what they have heard. How would the early Jewish believers interpret this? What did the writer want the reader to pay close attention to? Why is this so critical to developing "gritty faith"?

What danger awaits Christians who carelessly forget the truth?

One of the reasons the author wrote this book was because people were drifting away from the faith due to persecution. Where do you see the church experiencing persecution today?

What does it mean to “See with your Ears?”

Pray that as you study Hebrews, you will draw nearer to Jesus more and more without losing sight of how majestic he is. Pray that you will Remember his words! Pray that you will grow in your ability to “see with your ears”.

Tomorrow, we will go a little deeper into Chapter 2….
