Tuesday 3/26 Hebrews 9 Part 1 - Nothing but the blood

“The appearance of blood is never a good sign. While blood is natural, the sight of it is not. To the ancients, its red color and its mystical connection with life and death made it a powerful and ominous symbol of violence and wrong, guilt and coming punishment. Only in the framework of sacrifice could blood portend good news.” Dr Chad Ragsdale

Listen to this great message on the new covenant by the ministry First Fruits of Zion. Check out the sermon below…

Every person has a deep longing for things made right. We long for justice. We long to find some atonement. Where do you see evidence of this in our world today? Where do so many people go to find this? Why are so many of these efforts often frustrating?

Hebrews 9 is a bloody chapter. Why is blood theologically significant? What is Hebrew’s big idea concerning blood?

Growing in spiritual Grit requires us to rise above the things we look to in this world and pursue the ways of God. It requires us to admit that we are not strong enough on our own to bring any atonement whatsoever. What areas in your life do you still struggle to trust in the blood of Christ for cleansing? For atonement? For power? Spend some time in prayer as we approach the weekend, where Christians focus on the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. Ask God to reveal to you areas you need to let go of Him.
