WEEK 1 - INTRODUCTION AND WORSHIPING GOD WITH OUR MIND

Passages to study for Day 1: 2 Corinthians 10:3-6, Mark 12:28-31, Ephesians 1:17 - These are our threaded, foundational passages throughout the study. Each daily podcast will introduce a new passage of study for meditation.

Reflection: After listening to Today’s Podcast and reading the above passage, use those reflection questions as a springboard for the week’s study.

  • Jesus teaches us to love God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength. What does it mean to you to love God with your mind? How can you actively engage your thoughts in loving and honoring God daily?

  • Consider the command to love your neighbor as yourself. How can aligning your thoughts with this command change the way you perceive and interact with others, especially those who are difficult to love?

  • Reflect on how loving God with all your mind influences other areas of your life, such as your emotions, decisions, and actions. How can you create a more integrated approach to loving God wholly and completely?

  • Paul talks about waging war not with worldly weapons but with divine power. How can we apply this principle in our daily battles against negative thoughts and temptations?

  • The passage emphasizes taking every thought captive to make it obedient to Christ. What practical steps can you take to capture and redirect your thoughts towards Jesus and His teachings?

Application in Community: How can sharing this practice of capturing thoughts and aligning them with Christ with your friends, small group, or team enhance your spiritual growth and accountability?

How to Begin Loving God with Your Mind

As we kick off the Mindset study, here are some practical steps to start loving God with your mind. Remember, understanding more about God brings you closer to truly knowing Him.

  1. Seek God's Wisdom and Knowledge through Prayer Begin by praying for God's wisdom and knowledge. Ask Him to guide you in loving Him with your mind, as well as your heart and soul. This shows your spiritual hunger and genuine desire to love God fully. If you earnestly seek this, He will respond.

  2. Commit Your Mind to Knowing Him After prayer, dedicate yourself to deepening your understanding of God. Engage with resources like books, online articles, podcasts, and YouTube channels that focus on the intellectual aspects of Christianity. I'll suggest some resources at the end of this article to help you get started.

  3. Think Clearly About God's Character It's easy to form misconceptions about God's character based on personal experiences and biases. As C.S. Lewis pointed out, we need the real God, not just our idea of Him. To gain a true understanding of God, immerse yourself in Scripture, reflect on its teachings about God's nature, and listen to sermons that elaborate on these truths.

Continue to join us daily in this quest to develop our our mindset into the mind of a disciple of Jesus.
