Friendship Sports B.O.G.O. Night

1 for 1 - Giving Hope to the Homeless of Grand Rapids through Sports

Siena Heights Women’s Soccer participated in last year BOGO even at Cornerstone - picture here.

What is B.O.G.O. Night?

Winter is coming! The most requested item by homeless shelters across the country is often socks. We are working hard at FSI to engage the Cornerstone community in making a difference in the homeless population of Grand Rapids! We invite you to help us make a difference by supporting BOGO Night! We have four BOGO nights this fall all around Cornerstone University Homecoming.

10/16 - Men’s and Women’s Bowling Tournament

10/20 - Women’s Soccer vs. Sienna Heights (both teams participate)

10/22 - Women’s Volleyball vs. Siena Heights

10/27 - Men’s Soccer vs. Lawrence Tech

For every purchase of a pair of socks, winter hat, or t-shirt FSI will donate a winter hat or pair of thermal socks to Matthews House Ministry in downtown Grand Rapids and Degage Ministries. Socks and T-shirts will be sold on the campus of Cornerstone University during the week leading up to the B.O.G.O. nights. Items will also be sold during each of the games. The fall items include:

Donate $10 and receive either 1 pair of Premium Sky Outfitter Socks (there will be a variety of choices while supplies last), a Bamboo BOGO T-shirt, or an FSI winter hat.

Each item you purchase = one item donated to Matthews House Ministries or Degage.

Why are socks so important?

  • it takes 30 mins to get to frostbite in sub-zero temperatures

  • Grand Rapids had 6 days in 2019 that went below 0 Fahrenheit (not windchill)

  • wet socks bread bacteria which cause infection and discomfort

  • Many homeless have diabetes putting them at a much higher risk for skin injury or infection

  • Many homeless walk for miles finding food, shelter, or reprieve from the elements

  • People can access help easier when their feet are dry, healthier and blister-free

  • Providing socks for the homeless says we see their needs, their lives and we care!

Impact.
